Basic review of Defraggler, a good free defrag software utility from Piroform for your computer hard drive, who created the very popular CCleaner and Recuva. Defraggler installs easily and quickly, and appears to runs faster than the standard Windows defrag software. It allows selection of individual files to defrag. Defraggler operates on all windows systems, and the settings menu has options to select or exclude file types and their folders.
Defragging is required for your computer's hard drive, to restructure the file fragments, particularly after extensive use, such as audio from video extraction, or other process intensive operations. So if your computer is slowing down, particularly during hard drive access, then running Defraggler may help. The standard windows defrag utility can be slow and even hang, as I found out when, I think it could not easily access some large ISO files. Other defrag utilities may also be slow, or required to be purchased. Defraggler being totally free from the reputable Piroform, you can be assured of a customizable, easy, and quick defrag scan to help optimize, and increase the speed of your computer.
Defraggler works quick and remains stable, even when using the computer. Often with windows defrag utility, restarting would occur during computer use. Of interest I like when after a analysis, you can click on any of the colored squares, of which file information is revealed. This can give you an idea of what file types are being fragmented frequently. For my computer, my kid's ISO back up games were often in a need of a defrag. It's possible to perform a deeper analysis to evaluate what files and their sizes are fragmented by using the search function.
